Another month gone....

And I didn't post! Geez I am such a slacker. Sorry. :-(  Here's the new things going on...

School is down to 7 days for me. Yep 7 days!! Can you believe it!? I am excited for it to be over for the summer. There are lots of things going on in the next several days however and it will prove to be exciting I'm sure.

Blaine has been hanging out with Ostyn all day again for a couple of weeks. Ostyn loves it I'm sure and I think he will be sad when it is me he is with all day instead of Blaine. Hopefully we will be able to manage. Blaine will be starting back at Atterbury for a bit and will be busy there I am sure.

Ostyn is doing fantastic these days. He is eating a lot and growing like a weed. This morning I was changing his clothes for church  and could barely get the bottom of the shorts buttoned because his legs were too chubby! It was quite funny. The clothes were even 18 months! Crazy! He is crawling everywhere and getting into lots of things. He has quickly figured out what "no" means and does a funny little shake when we say it to him. I think it is his little first tantrum! He has his 9 month checkup on Wednesday and we are thinking he will be almost off the charts. He is quite the cutie though! He now cruises around the furniture anywhere he can and will walk around holding your hands if you'll let him. He is also making lots of noise these days. He is talking up a storm and likes to copy off of you if he can.

I will try to post some pictures this week. Early if possible. I haven't been able to get many that are super cute lately. Hope you are all doing well!!!

Already!!??

Wow! My little guy is 8 months already!! Where has the time gone? Here is the smiley guy in the tub this evening. Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Things around here have been crazy with Blaine working so much. We have been very busy too with lots of other things going on. Ostyn is now a mobile guy, crawling around quite a bit. He started getting the idea about 2 weeks ago and is now full on crawling! He is already into everything and has already bruised his head once. We are excited about the new progress, but it is going to make things a lot more challenging. Easter was a great deal of fun and we loved every minute of spending time with our family. I hope you are all doing well! Hopefully I have time later this week to share a few more pics that were taken at Easter by my aunts. Happy Monday! Hopefully it stops raining sometime soon!!

Spring break??? Where's the Spring?

Yeah right! I don't see any  spring around here! I would love some temperatures like last week in the 70s. Then Ostyn and I could really have some fun out and about. Oh well. We will just have to settle for some fun hanging around the house.

Ostyn is doing well these days. He was at the doctor last week because we thought he had an ear infection. Turns out he did not, the doctor thinks he might be pulling on his ear because of teething. While he was there they weighed him again. He is quite the growing boy tipping the scales at over 19 lbs. Crazy! I can hardly keep the kid in clothes he is growing so fast. One day something will fit perfectly and the next day it is almost too small!!

We are having a lot of fun with him these days. He is very interactive and loves to babble and chatter. He spends his time playing and trying very hard to crawl. I think that any day now he is going to take off. The day he does Blaine and I will have to start chasing non stop. He will be going constantly I am sure.

The biggest loser competition at school finished last week. I am glad that it is over, but hoping to keep losing. I didn't win the competition. :-(  I was an honorable mention though. I was 5th out  of 30 men and women in the district. That's pretty good right? I think so.

Well Ostyn is napping at the moment so I'd better take the opportunity to get some things done. Hope you are all doing well!! Thought I'd share a pic from bath night last night. Enjoy!

Talkative Ostyn

Just popping in to say hi and leave a video of Ostyn. He is doing well this week and is becoming quite talkative. He has figured out how to click his tongue which is very funny. Our house is full of the noise of him talking and clicking and squealing. Hope you all are doing well!! Hooray for Friday!

6 month stats....

We took Ostyn for his 6 month well check this afternoon. We are happy to report that he is doing great, and totally healthy. The doctor seemed to be thrilled about how he is doing and we agree. He is a big boy! He is 18lbs 6 oz. That puts him in the 75th percentile in his weight. He is 28 inches tall and in the 95th percentile there. His head size is also in the 75th percentile. All these things combined and it is no wonder that he is in clothes as big as he is. The doctor said that he also has a small ear infection that we are treating. :( I guess that explains his cranky behavior. We tried to take some 6 month pics on Sunday and he was not cooperating at all, but who can blame him I guess. We will try again soon I'm sure. The pics below are from this weekend. Ostyn enjoys his bath and he and I decided that we would take it in the sink on Saturday to let him play. The second picture is one taken this weekend. This is probably the only smile he had that day for Pam.

Have a good week! We love you!

Rainy Monday

I was off school today and after last weeks beautiful weather I would have loved a day that I could be outside with Ostyn. That day is not today. :( Although it is warmer than it will be later this week, it has been pouring down rain all day. Definitely not a good day to be out or take a walk. Oh well. Warmer days are on their way I am sure.

I did spend today with my little guy, who unfortuantely was quite grouchy all day. Not really sure what that is about, but he didn't sleep well last night, and today was sleepy and crabby most of the day. It was nice to be home with he and Blaine though after spending the weekend flying solo. Blaine had his first weekend of drill with his new unit and Ostyn and I hung out here with lots of fun people. After a slow morning of lounging and playing on Saturday, Ostyn went to his Grandma and Grandpa Gellerts for a while. Amy and I travelled up to the outlet mall in Monroe and did some shopping. It turned out that I mostly bought things for only Ostyn, but we had a good time. Then after picking up Ostyn Amy and I went to Brookville to spend time with my grandparents. We always have a good time and they really enjoy seeing Ostyn. Ostyn even got to hang with Uncle Matt and Aunt Sharlena too! He was quite tired by 9 and we headed home to get him in bed. Sunday was church in the morning and then he and I just hung at the house the rest of the day and waited for Blaine to come home. Ostyn was excited when Blaine walked in the door and didn't want to be anywhere the rest of the night if he couldn't see Blaine. Too cute! Today has included 2 workouts, some tv catch up and hanging out with my little guy.

I have still been working out twice a day and while I am not losing a ton of weight I can definitely tell the difference in myself. My clothes are all fitting differently and I  feel like a healthier person as well. I can tell that my cardio is getting better and I guess it is only a matter of time before the weight starts coming off more after I am done building muscle. Or so I am told anyways. I still hate getting up at 5 in the morning, but I know that it is worth it and I feel better about myself after the workout.

Ostyn is now sitting up on his own and most of the time doesn't even seem to wobble much. He has had a few crashes over, but he is doing really well. We have seen him roll from his belly to his back a few times too, which is nice because hopefully it means he will be less cranky when he gets on his belly. He is up to cereal two times a day and gobbles that up quickly. Next stop real food I guess. We are planning on making his food right now. We have a couple of books on it and some tools to help us get started. His 6 month check up is next Monday so hopefully I will have time to post then about how he is growing!

Gotta go for now! Time for piano lessons! Take care!

In it for the long haul??

So here we are almost 3 weeks into the weight loss competition I have entered. How are you doing you ask? Well, unfortunately not as well as I had hoped I would be doing. :( I have lost a little bit of weight, but not nearly enough to be excited about. My clothes aren't really fitting much differently either. I am noticing that my cardio is getting better when I am working out, but other than that not much has changed. I am still working out twice a day and trying my best to make healthy choices when eating and snacking. I need to work on my water in take because I know that will help me out too. Keep me in your thoughts and I would love any tips that you have to offer! Thanks in advance!

Ostyn is spending time in his jumper while I am typing. The nosy little guy is watching me type and looking at the screen like he knows what it says. Hehehe. He loves to be jumping in his seat and I think it might be his favorite thing to do. He also loves his baths so it could be a tie. He is almost sitting up on his own these days and is constantly rolling from his back to his front, but not the other way yet. It is frustrating for all of us. I keep thinking that this will change, but not yet. We are getting ready to begin him on vegetables soon. I think we are all excited about that too. He really seems to like his cereal right now. Ostyn is still spending everyday with Blaine and  the are becoming best buds quickly. :)

I hope you are all doing great! Take care!

So far....not too bad

So here we are on January 17.  A little over a week ago I posted about my goals for 2011. So how am I doing you ask?? Well, I am not doing too badly. I did manage to cook 2 meals last week, and have leftovers on Wednesday. I packed very healthy lunches each day for school and tried to drink more water than I would typically do. This weekend I definitely didn't do so well, but hey I knew that there would be setbacks. Today I was right back on track though. It is going to be a process and I know that there will be challenges, but I am excited about the prospect of seeing progress.

Ostyn is doing well still and is growing like a weed. I am amazed at his new tricks each day. I can't believe that on Friday my little man will be 5 months old! He is up to eating 2 meals with cereal each day and he seems to really enjoy it. He talks a lot and seems to be happiest when playing with someone else. We are noticing that he is developing some separation anxiety. When Blaine is around he will sometimes only want to be with him, especially if he can see him and he isn't with him. He sounds so sad when he is missing Blaine.

Well I'd better go....almost time for me to go to bed. School time is going to be early tomorrow. Hope you are all doing well! Take care!

A new year for a new me

So never in my life have I made a New Year's resolution.....so this is the first year that I will be doing just that. I guess in my mind it's more than just a resolution though. I want to try to make a lifestyle change. I need to make this change. Not just for myself, but also for my family and Ostyn especially. We started him on cereal while I was on break and so now when I am thinking about setting him up for good eating habits I am realizing just how terrible my habits are. I need to lead by example and practice what I preach.

So here are my goals.....

1. More vegetables and fruit on a daily basis. This is going to include a salad with my lunch every day. My school lunches will consist of a small salad, yogurt, and some other small item that is hopefully a leftover from the night before...which leads me too....

2. Planning my meals at home and buying the needed items at the beginning of the week so I have no excuses as to why I am not cooking. I am usually too worn at the end of the day to go home and figure out what to eat, which leads to a lot of easily made items that aren't very healthy. So that needs to change. I spent some time today going through one of my cookbooks and I picked out several new things to try and to try making. This starts tomorrow....we will be having Chicken Milan.

3. Leading a healthier. more active lifestyle. More movement.....more mental challenges....more fun family time....less stress. I think that this will be one of the tougher things for me to do. I already lead a fairly busy life, but I know that I need to be more active to be a healthier person. So I think it is going to mean an earlier start to my already early 5:30 to fit it in. I can't see giving up any of my evening with Ostyn and at this point he is not willing to play on his own and watch me workout. Losing weight falls into this category, however it will not be my focus. I am going to think of it as an added bonus. :)

I know that I have many more things in my head that I need to work on as a person, but this is going to be my starting point. As I look ahead to the challenges that will come along with these goals I know that I will struggle, but as I tell my students each day, when you struggle and make mistakes you become smarter and better at what you are doing. So when I fall short of a goal for a time I know that the next attack at it will be much better and eventually I will have these goals accomplished and be ready to set more.

I had decided not to share these things with anyone in the beginning of my thoughts, not even Blaine. I didn't want to feel as though people were studying my food and choices when I was out. After much thought I let Blaine in on the goal and was glad I did since he will be a part of it all. Then after more thought I decided that putting it out there makes it more of a real goal. I'm hoping that people won't be critical of me when I make a poor choice. I am allowing myself some wiggle room in the beginning....it's a marathon not a sprint after all.

Wow....it is hard to believe that I'm going to put this out there. Who knows maybe someone who reads this will get inspired. I am looking for recipes or tips for cooking. The items must be easy and quick to prepare as I don't have a great deal of time when I get home before it is dinner time.  I hope you all have a great week! I would love to hear your thoughts on my goals...any tips or suggestions are welcome.
