It is hard to believe that it has been almost 4 weeks since I last posted. The 4 weeks has gone fast for me and I feel like I've been run through the mill. Between school, grad classes, things to do at home and with friends and family and Blaine being back and the adjustment I think I'm about to drop. Which is the plan for the next couple of days since Spring Break has finally arrived. YAY! It seemed like it would never get here. Blaine and I are going to take a trip to the Gulf Coast thanks to the Rehage family. They are letting us rent their house in Orange Beach for a few days and we are pumped about going. Or at least I am.
Blaine is doing well and getting back to doing normal things here at home. He spends his days lounging and watching TV or playing video games and seems quite content to do so. The evenings are pretty busy for the both of us too. Trying to find time to hang out for us and then just the normal everyday stuff that needs to get done. Blaine is not sure what is ahead of him on the job front, but is going to be starting back to work somewhere in the next couple of weeks.
School is going fine for mme. Turns out that my school we be closing for a year in June. That means that I will now be the music teacher at Williams Avenue Elementary. I will have some of the same students, but most will be different. I am looking forward to the change and think it will be nice to have some new things to work with. I have some goals for my teaching and some things that I want to try that are new, so I'm hoping this will be the time to do it. Grad school is still kicking my butt. I feel ilke I'm always scrambling to do well in class and that's not something that I'm used to doing I guess. Needless to say I'm not enjoying the classes as much as I had hoped yet, but maybe that will change.
A big congratulations to Sherry and Derek Rehage. They are expecting their first child and Blaine and I are so excited for them! They are going to be awesome parents.
One more thing before I go....I need some help praying for a friend at school and her family. Her husband has recently found out that cancer he thought he had beaten is back and he is struggling with a lot of pain right now. This family is awesome and Sue was so great helping me out and checking on me at shcool when Blaine was gone. If you could please keep the Martini family in your thoughts and prayers this week I'd really appreciate it.
That's all for now! I'll try to do a better job on this now that Blaine is back. Hope you all have a fabulous week! Take care!

The long awaited day...
So I should have done this before and posted earlier in the week, but things have been a bit crazy around the Gellert household. So here we go....
I thought it would be fun for some of you to see pictures of the homecoming celebration. It was much like you would see on tv in some ways. Lots of families standing and sitting around anxiously waiting for their soldier to come back. Excited kids running around all dressed in cute t-shirts with their parents name on it and some in mini army uniforms. Lots of signs and balloons and cheering families.
This is the door that they soldiers marched in through. After getting off the bus, they formed into their company formation. Then they knocked on the garage door and it was opened and they marched in.

Here is the only good shot I got of them marching in. Blaine's family apparently saw him go past, but I did not. I had no idea where he was in the midst of all the soldiers.
They stopped in the middle of the hanger and then were dismissed. It was a very hectic thing from that point on. I had told Blaine where we were sitting and so I walked out into the middle and waited for him to come towards me. Then all of a sudden there he was! It was really exciting.

Since then it has been crazy around our house. Between Blaine trying to get used to everything here and me trying to figure out how to share the space in the house and bedroom its been a bit crazy. I went back to work on Wednesday, which seemed crazy in some respects, but after the fact I think it might have been a good idea. I'm not one to be sitting around the house all day, and that's what Blaine needed to be doing I think. Thursday I also went to school and the same was true for Blaine that day. We had decided that I would take Friday as a personal day to run errands and hang out with Blaine. However, that was not really what happened. I woke up Friday morning to a lovely treat of the stomach flu. Needless to say our Friday was thrown out the window and replaced by Blaine watching tv and hanging out at the house again and having to deal with my miserable sick self. By Saturday morning I felt much better and I'm feeling better still today too. Still not 100%, but getting closer each day. We used our Saturday to get new cell phones and run some other errands. It was nice to be out and about .
Here we are after the fact! It was a crazy hectic day that I will always remember.

Blaine is doing well and seems to be meshing back into life here pretty easily, or so I can tell. I think it is still weird to see him here when I come home and hard to share the space and routine changes. Despite all those though I wouldn't give him back to the army for anything. This week holds more of the same things as last I think. Grad school for me, teaching, working at Perfects and then preparing for our gathering on Saturday. It's hard to believe that a week ago I wasn't sure when Blaine would be returning and now here he is!
I hope you all had a good week and that you are going to have another fabulous week this coming week! We love you all!!
