Well a lot of you probably know by now, but I'm sure that some don't. Blaine received dates for his upcoming deployment.
As of right now, Blaine is set to leave on February 22. He will be part of an "Advanced Party" that will travel to New Jersey to get things set up and ready for the rest of the unit. This will mean that he will miss the farewell ceremony being held on that day. The rest of the unit will be heading to New Jersey on February 24. Blaine will also be heading to Danville to get things ready from Feb. 11-15. With all this going on, his time will be scarce while at home unfortunately.
I am trying to get things done before Blaine comes home so that I can spend as much time with him as possible while he is here. While this sounds easy, I feel quite frazzled and all over the place lately. I am super spacey and exhausted. I have not been sleeping well and I can't seem to relax at any point in time. I told myself that I would be honest about things going on and how I was feeling on this blog and so I will do my best to fulfill that. My level of stress and worry seems like it is growing each day and I feel like one big mess. It is my hope that this is just a phase that will pass and I will feel better soon.

Brrrr....It's cold outside!
The past week has been so chilly I just can't believe it! My house even seems cooler than usual. I hope that it gets warmer this week. I don't know how much more of this I am going to be able to stand.
Blaine has been doing alright at Camp Atterbury as far as I know. We usually don't get to talk until about 10:30 or 11:00 at night. It has been hard to actually have a conversation that is acutally full of substance. It is usually a conversation of making sure each other is still doing alright and that we are not having any big needs going on. Blaine did spend some time this past week sick. I think he is not sleeping much and that he is working really hard. Plus with how cold it is it would be hard to believe that he did not get sick.
My weekend was spent partially in Indy and some of it at home. I left home on Thursday afternoon for Indy. I met up with Katie Coyle for a Music Educators conference. I had a good time at the conference and I was able to get some great resources for the future. We came home on Saturday and spent the evening with some family and friends. We had dinner at Applebees with Amber, my mom, Matt and Sharlena. Then we headed back to my house for some game playing and some hanging out with friends. Sunday we had lunch with my family and then spent the day there. Today I did laundry, organizing, doctor appointment, and then shopping with Amy! It was a good weekend overall. I'm not ready to go back to school though. It has been nice sleeping in so much!!
This week is fairly typical for me. Piano on Tuesday, tutoring on Wednesday, Perfects on Thursday, EC basketball on Friday. It is funny to me how much things stay the same, but at the same time change while Blaine is gone. No new info on the deployment site. We are both of the mindset that we wish it was early so we could just get going on this tough year. Please keep praying for the two of us. We are needing all the prayers we can get right now. Saying goodbye again....
The clock is ticking until the time that Blaine is going to leave and I swear that every day it is getting faster and faster. I am in shock that it is already the middle of January!! I was looking at my calendar yesterday and counting the weeks until the possible MOB date and I was shocked. We seem to have so little time left and it is going by very quickly. It is my hope that the next 3 weeks when I am on my own that the time will go by just as quickly.
Blaine leaves tomorrow morning (in about 7 hours actually) for Camp Atterbury. That is a training base in Columbus, IN for those of you who may not know. He will be there for the next 3 weeks and is scheduled to come home sometime on February 2. Again, here's hoping the time goes quickly. :/ I think that this time will be slower and harder for me because I will be a lot less busy. Also because after this things become very serious. Paperwork becomes more important, time with family is more important, and trying to find time for just the two of us could be a rare thing. Add my 2 jobs to that, and basketball as well and we are not going to have much time in that few weeks he will be home to do much.
This past week we did get to spend some time together and had a chance to talk about how we were both feeling and what we were thinking. Sunday night we spent time playing games and having a good time. Same thing on Monday night as well. On Wednesday night we went out to dinner just the two of us. It was our birthday celebration dinner for me since he will miss my actual birthday this weekend. Blaine had drill on Thursday and Friday this week so he was gone early and was a very tired guy. EC played basketball tonight and so at the moment I am on Blaine's new laptop waiting for him to get home so that I can help him double check that he has everything he needs for the next 3 weeks. Oh and in case you are wondering EC beat Franklin County tonight. Not really a big surprise for a win, but a win is always good. I enjoyed the game tonight because I had the chance to watch players on the opposing team that I knew as well. Amber's cousin plays for Franklin County and is a starter. I was surprised a bit by how quick he was!
School for me this week was a bit easy. My 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students all had review quizzes this week. Combine that with fun lessons for the little guys, and it makes for an enjoyable week. Monday marks the end of 2nd quarter and grades will be my evenings for the next week. In other school news the 5th grade students at Allison got to start ballroom dancing classes this week. Every Tuesday for the next 10 weeks they will be headed to the gym for specials time. We have an outside instructor coming in to teach the students how to do the Cha-cha for a dance showcase in downtown Cincinnati. The whole idea is based off of Mad Hot Ballroom and I am really excited about it. I just wish the kids were too. They were really rude and disrespectful this week during the class. I was quite embarrassed to say the least and so we had lots of long talks with the classes about being polite, accepting, and making the effort to at least try the dancing. I am hoping that this coming Tuesday will go better and they will start to enjoy it more. Cross your fingers.....
Guess that's all for now. Time to pick up the mess from the laptop and try to get things ready for Blaine maybe. Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!! We love you!

Welcome to 2008
Blaine and I celebrated the holidays with family and friends. We were fortunate enough to get to spend time with all of our families on a different day! That meant less stress and running around for the two of us. It was a more relaxing Christmas season this year! We started off the festivities at the Hountz family Christmas on Saturday. This year was nothing new with the annual gag gift exchange. It was a fun time had by all. Sunday we spent the day with the Gellert family. We all attended church together and then had a yummy dinner followed by an afternoon and evening of games and fun. Christmas Eve we went to church at Dover with my family and then we headed over to Gellerts to exchange gifts with Blaine's family. Zoey was adorable that evening as well and we ended the night playing games and bowling on the Wii. Christmas day we opened gifts with my family and then had breakfast. Following this we all headed to Brookville for Christmas at the Ratz house.
Christmas this year was one to remember and cherish. We are so blessed to have such wonderful family support and love! Here are a few favorite photos from Christmas.

We spent New Year's Eve at the Rehage house in Wyoming, Ohio. They hosted a party for family and friends and we joined in on the fun! The night was spent drinking, hanging out, playing games, and just catching up with lots of people. Here is a picture of Sherry and I from the night.

Between Christmas and New Year's Eve our great friend Katie came for a visit. Katie lives in Wheaton, IL so we don't get to see her too often so we are always pumped when she comes down here for a visit. We made a trip to Kenwood and ate at the Cheesecake Factory on Friday night. It was delicious! We even had the awesome round booth to sit at and watch everyone else. Katie stayed until Sunday afternoon. We had a great time. I will be seeing her again in a few weeks at the IMEA conference in Indy. I am looking forward to spending some more time with her.
