Holiday Program
Good morning! I just wanted to take a minute to invite everyone to the Holiday program tomorrow night at Allison Street Elementary. My kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade students will be performing at 6:30pm. For anyone who was there last year you know that it can be quite amusing. Let me know if you need directions to attend. Tis' the season to be singing
Just wanted to take a moment to invite everyone to the performances of the cantata that are happening the rest of the week. It is turning out to be an awesome show! There are 3 more chances for you to see it! Thursday at 730 we will be at St. Johns in Dover. Saturday and Sunday we will be at Dearborn Hills United Methodist Church at 700pm for both nights. It will be a tough choice on Saturday night for some I know. That is the same night as the EC vs. Batesville game at EC. I wish that I was going to be able to attend the game and cheer for the guys! I will be there in spirit though.

Two weeks and counting!!
I have caught quite a bit of grief about not blogging this past week. I must say that I was also meaning to blog and lots of time would sit down to do it and instead found myself thinking about how tired I was that I just went to bed. So I will catch you up on the last 2 weeks of my life.
My first week without Blaine went very quickly. I was very busy and was constantly on the move. I never realized how much I had going on in my life until it was time to do everything on my own. Tuesday was taken up with my family here working on projects and then Blaine's family popping in with Christmas decorations. Wednesday I tutored and then Amy and I put up the Christmas tree! It looks awesome and I love having it on and up in the house. Makes things a bit more cheery I think. Thursday I spent time with my family and then worked on some things at home. Friday night I avoided the basketball game and instead baked cookies with my mom. It just seems too weird to be at basketball games without Blaine being there. Basketball games are a big part of our history, how we met, where we started hanging out, what I did every Friday and Saturday during my senior year, and our Fridays and Saturdays during the season sense. It just seems sad to be there without him. My weekend last week was very bizzare as well.
Saturday I went to Lebanon, Indiana to a pre-deployment briefing for families of the 38th Military Police Company. It was a meeting that I had been dreading and stressing about for weeks to be honest with you. I never wanted to go to it, nor wanted to know of it and be a part of it. It is so scary to me to actually think about that day in February or March and have to deal with the emotions that go with it. I simply am trying to stay in the day and deal with each new day as it comes for now. Anyways, the actual meeting was informative for most people I am sure. Most of the things they talked about are already taken care of for Blaine and I and the rest are things that we know about and are working on. To keep all of you up to date the earliest that Blaine will be leaving for New Jersey is February 22. The latest that he will be leaving is March 9. While that is still a pretty big time span, it seems a lot smaller than the whole month of February.
Sunday the 2nd was a birthday party for my cousin. It was nice to be with family all week and the weekend. It helped me to keep my mind off being away from Blaine. The next day it was back to the old grind at school. This week was crazy again with lots and lots of things going on. Same plan as the week before with busy evenings, followed by crazy days at school. Friday night of this week was my staff christmas party at school. My sister was a great sport and went along with me. I had a blast and I think that she had an ok time as well. It was nice for me to be able to have someone else meet the people that I work with so they can see who they are. Saturday I had practice for the Cantata with the Methodist church and then I went shopping all day. I got a lot of shopping done and was very pleased with myself! I decided that I could no longer avoid basketball games and attending them on my own. So on Saturday night I went to the EC vs. Lawrenceburg game. It was nice to be out, and see the guys playing, but it still was not the same at all. Congrats to the team for the win! They have started off their season with an awesome run at 5-0!! My night ended with a trip to the Breitensteins party. Today I got to go to choir practice at Dover and then spent the rest of the day with my family. Tonight I am going to spend my time wrapping presents and writing Christmas cards.

Rainy Days are no fun
Well the good news is that Blaine made it to Arkansas without any problems at all. The trip was not as long as we thought that it might be. He is in his own room with his own bathroom and TV which is awesome. He still does not have a computer, but we are working that out. He has class from 730 in the morning until 400 at night. Right now I know that he is probably very bored and would love the phone calls from anyone! Keep in mind the time difference though.
School got a bit easier this week. One of the programs that I had been working on planning suddenly got cancelled today. I am dreading telling the kids. They had been working so hard on it! I know they are going to be really disappointed and I am going to try and work something out so that they can still perform the pieces that they have been working on.
I am doing my best to keep myself occupied and busy. Especially for these first couple of days. Sunday my family kept me busy with them. Tonight I didn't get home till almost 6 from the doctor, and getting groceries. Tomorrow night shouldn't be too bad either with piano lesson time, and my family coming over to put a lock on the garage. Blaine's parents will be dropping off Christmas decorations as well tomorrow hopefully. So no problems there. Wednesday will be tutoring and busy time for me. Thursday may be the first night that I am really alone the whole time. I should have lots to do then with my decorations and tree to put up. If nothing else I can start wrapping gifts I suppose.

What a quick week!!
Thanksgiving this year was an awesome time. We managed to spend time with both families and had a great time. It has been such a quick week and I can't believe that it is already Saturday night. Blaine will be leaving in a few hours for Arkansas. He will be at Camp Robinson, Arkansas until December 21. While there he will be taking 2 different courses on unit movement. It is unreal the amount of training and planning that he alone is involved in. I am always amazed at how he keeps everything in its spot and he knows what is going on and where everyone should be. Blaine will still have his cell phone with him and I'm sure he'd be glad to hear from anyone while he is down there. Evenings will be best for him. I will update again on Monday probably. Please keep Blaine in your thoughts tomorrow and pray for a safe trip to Arkansas. Have a great night everyone!

The Beginning of the Holiday Rush
It seems that it is already the time of year when the holiday rush is beginning. At least that is for Blaine and I. Then again, this may just be the norm for the next several months of our lives. Our weeks and weekends are quickly filling up and it seems the only time our paths cross is during our sleeping times....which are hardly the same at all.
This past week was very hectic for me at work. After staying home sick Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday I finally got to go back to school on Thursday. Being that the next day was our Veterans' Day program I had a lot to do. The students were all really worried about me after I was sick at the beginning of the week and were very helpful when it came to leading the class BINGO. After getting almost everything done for Veterans' Day, not done well, but done I finally tried to switch gears to planning for the 2 different holiday programs that I am having to put on. Friday's program went alright I suppose. The speaker was awesome and the students, well lets just say they were present and moving their mouths. This week was off to a nice start with Monday off. Tonight was conference night at my school so I got to hang out there late.
This weekend was a great deal of fun and family time. Friday we went to Brookville to visit with the grandparents. Saturday was for sleeping, basketball for Blaine, and then dinner out with Amy and shopping. Sunday we went back to Brookville to celebrate Pap's birthday. We had a delicious dinner and cake and ice cream as well. We also began working on making Christmas lists for grandma for this year. My family decided that I am way too stressed with life right now. I definitely don't disagree with them, however I am not sure that any of that will be changing any time soon. My family decided to try and help me discover ways to relax and be less stressed in my life, however I don't find much of that happening as well. I love them all for trying though. I think that this point in time of my life with all that is going on with the military and school that I am just doomed to be stressed. If any of you have tips on ways to handle stress I am willing to try new things. To those of you that deal with my stress on a regular basis I am sorry if my stress is passing on to you, or if you are suffering it effects.
The rest of the week is booked up for Blaine and I. Wednesday will be for tutoring, Thursday is piano lessons and basketball, Friday is a family picture with the Gellert family and Saturday is a family picture for my family.

Well this is a late post because I have been sick since the weekend. I started not feeling so great on Friday and everything has gone down hill since then. I went to the doctor on Monday only to be given an anitbiotic and a decongestant. I am not allowed to go back to work until Thursday of this week either! Which is horrible since Friday is the Veterans' Day program at school and we have not had any full rehearsals. I am seriously trying not to stress about that, but we all know how well I do with not stressing. Oh well, I hope that this stupid 102 temperature is done soon. I'm tired of feeling horrible.
In other news, Blaine received orders for a trip to Arkansas at the end of November. He is leaving on the 25th and will be back on December 21st. This was quite the unexpected news and something that I am not looking forward to.

Time Does Fly!!!
I can't believe that it has been a week already! Time is flying by these days and I don't even seem to notice. Last week was a really busy week around our house. Between my crazy work schedule packed full of meetings and things going on in our personal life the week flew by in no time. Tuesday night we got to have dinner at my Mom's house for Amy's birthday. We got Amy a beach chair that she has been wanting for a long time. Wednesday was tutoring again and Thursday brought meetings for me. Friday evening was an opportunity to take Amy out for dinner and do some shopping.
Saturday was quite an adventure around the Gellert household. With my Dad's help, Blaine and I buried our sump pump pipe because it was making a giant mud puddle in our backyard. All things considered it went smoothly. Only thing that could have been better was the weather since it was cold and raining outside.
Blaine will be leaving for drill this weekend. I will be doing some relaxing and trying to catch up on some things around the house. I may also be working at Perfects this weekend for their annual Ski Swap. If you are in the area check it out! All the details are at http://www.perfectnorth.com/ . Sunday is the fall festival at church! YUM!!
In other news, I have had the opportunity to get a pet. My options are a cat right now, a dog later, or I could get both. I am going to get a small dog if that is the choice, likely a border terrier or something that is small and light on the shedding. The cat is gray and white and is named Smoke. He is living with my Mom right now and is adorable. I don't know what I should do. I am not really thinking that Blaine has much of an opinion so I guess I will open it up to you! Details details
Well it seems that this has been well received and I must say that I am glad. I was not sure about the responses I would be getting.
Here are some details about Blaine's deployment for those of you who may not know. Blaine will be leaving in February of 2008. He will be going Fort Dix, NJ for the first two months of his deployment. Following this frigid training time he will be going to Kuwait for 30 days to acclimate to the weather over there and finish up some final training. He will then head to Iraq. He will be there for about 9 months as of right now. I'm sure we all know that with the military now things can change a lot in a short period of time. When he does come home he will spend 5 days at Camp Atterbury to debrief, receive and full medical eval and other such fun items. He then will be paid for a full 30 days after that to recuperate, relax, and get used to life over here again. Overall it is a total of 400 days. That seems like an eternity to me! Hopefully time will fly by! I'm sure that lots of you will be keeping me busy, as well as school!
We had a nice weekend this past week. Friday night proved to be very humorous when out bowling with Amy and Blaine. Of course Blaine won both games with out any real competition. Saturday I went to the Minges Pumpkin Festival with Amy and Mom. I got a bunch of great stuff too! We had a good time. Then the afternoon proved to be eventful with 2 parties to attend. My favorite was definitely heading to the Gaynors for Sherry's surprise party. And to my surprise Meghan was there!! It was so great to see her and get to catch up on things! I miss hanging out with Meghan and Sherry so hopefully we will get together again sometime soon. Blaine played in the last softball tournament of the season on Saturday. While I'm sure he is sad to see it end, for me it is kinda nice. I was getting a bit sick of it to be honest. Sunday was spent with family and running errands. Overall it was a good weekend!

Hello to all!!
Welcome to our blog! Well really Katie will be the one updating all the time, so I guess it is really mine. The content however will be filled with details of both our lives. I guess this whole thing is starting because I wanted a quick easy way to keep everyone up to date on Blaine's military deployment. Yes, if you aren't already aware he is deploying in February. (Sorry you have to find out this way if you didn't already know!) Basically I think this will be easier for me to share information than a mass email every so often. Now it is your responsibility to check the blog and not mine to keep you in the know. :)
I will try to update at least once a week and post pictures every so often. Lots of you haven't even seen our house much! It is so cool to finally have our own place to call home. I hope you check back often and feel free to leave lots of comments!!
